New Year

Hola Familia,

Did you understand that? I hope so. :) But just be glad you aren't here for your birthday. They really go crazy for birthdays. Everyone here cracks eggs on your head when it is your birthday. I really don't understand why, they say it has to do with making a cake. But I think they are just crazy. The weird thing is that most people are happy when they get eggs cracked on their heads. It's really weird. But Happy Birthday Kendal!! Have a great day. Do something fun but stay away from the steering wheel. You still can't drive. You aren't allowed to drive until you are 40. Have a great day love you. Kylie make sure to crack some eggs on Kendal's head for me. :)

So this week was a tough week. Nobody was home. Everyone was on vacation. They all went to the beach and we stayed working. We had to work everyday this week. We don't get days off for holidays. So on the 31st we had to work and it was tough because around 5 everyone starts partying. The Ticos go crazy on New Years. It was nice because a member invited us to eat that night. So we got to celebrate that night and the food was so good. It was a great way to celebrate the New Year. But at 9 we had to be in the house and lights out at 10:30. So we didn't stay up. During the night we could see some of the fireworks but at 10:30 I was dead. My body just doesn't stay up past 10:30. Every night it is exhausted from walking and talking and thinking a ton. That is how we spent our New Years. It was actually really fun. A very relaxing New Years.

Right now we really haven't had a baptism since C in November. And it is really tough because we are helping other areas in the zone baptize but we are struggling in our area. It is tough because I know that we can do better. It really motivates me though and really things are looking a lot better for us. We have a lot of potential baptisms coming up. We don't have a lot of investigators, we are working in finding more everyday. The investigators that we have are really good. Our next baptisms are really interesting. We have been teaching C brother, D. D is 21 and is the only one of the family that isn't a member. He really didn't want anything to do with the missionaries. He has meet with missionaries for 4 years and he never gave them the time of day. One day we went to their house and we just talked to him and his girlfriend, J. We gained their trust but he still didn't want to listen to us. But J really liked the church and started to attend church. We started teaching her and D started to join us. D has heard everything about the church and knows a ton. But has never felt the need to go to church. The other day in Priesthood class, D bore his testimony and said that finally he feels the need to go to church. We were shocked. D now shares his testimony every opportunity that he gets and his girlfriend J loves the church. She has had a life full of drugs and living in the streets. She lives with D and the two of them really want to get baptized. D's mom is super happy because her whole family will be members after the baptism of D. So things are amazing with them. But they have to get married or separate before they get baptized. They don't want to get separated, they want to get married. We are going to have a marriage and a baptism in two weeks. We are really excited and it has really help pick us up.
So things are looking great for this New Year. 2014 is going to be a great year for us here.

We had a meeting with President Wilkinson on friday. It was a really good meeting. He kept asking me questions about baseball because his message was based on being mentally strong. He knows that in sports you have to be mentally strong. It was a great reminder about always having faith and always believing that we can win in the end. That really helped and it is something that I have been studying lately and it is something that I am planning on sharing with our zone here soon. There are times when we know what we need to do but we beat ourselves up mentally. It all starts with faith. If we have faith anything is possible. So that has been something that I have learned lately.

I love you guys. I can't believe that we are already in 2014. Time is flying by. I miss you guys a lot. Have a great week and don't do anything stupid. :)

Pura Vida,
Elder Keysor
